Celebrate Liz Burdick’s 45 Years of Service to FhGS. From its foundation in 1980, she has been a steady, guiding presence. After 45 years of extraordinary dedication, leadership, and vision, Liz has stepped down as Chairperson of the Publications Committee. Over the years, Liz has served in nearly every capacity. Her tenure as Publications Chairperson alone spans over four decades - a remarkable commitment to one mission: preserving and sharing the records of Colorado’s past. In the early days of the Society, there were no Jefferson County archives. During a courthouse move, historic records were literally placed at the curb to be discarded. Thanks to the quick action of local preservationists, those records were rescued and preserved. From that moment, Liz became a driving force in records preservation - not only for Jefferson County, but for Clear Creek, Gilpin, and Park Counties, and indeed for the entire state of Colorado.
